What to Wear

Proof10When choosing what to wear for your session, I recommend looking for simple items that are comfortable and reflect your every day style. A child normally dressed in jeans is not going to be comfortable in a suit for a photo session, and it will show in your final products! Avoid busy patterns, screen printed cartoon characters, and logos. If you like to wear bright colors, please do! Bright colors work especially well for young children. Jeans always photograph well. If you have any favorite pieces of clothing or a special hat or the like, please bring it along! I love to include items that have personal meaning for you. If more than one person is being photographed please dress in coordinating (but not necessarily matching) clothing.

For footwear the best choice for most sessions is none (yes mom, go out and treat yourself to that pedicure!)! If you or your child are extremely uncomfortable bare foot then try and plan to wear simple and understated shoes. White tennis shoes are quite distracting in photographs.

For maternity sessions a good choice is a plain colored tank or other shirt that can be easily lifted to expose your belly. Also look for jeans or other pants without a large elastic waistband, unbuttoned is completely fine!

I prefer to photograph newborns as near to the way they entered the world as possible, usually either nude or in a simple diaper cover. If you have any special items you would like your baby photographed with, such as blankets, hats, stuffed toys, etc, that is great!
